As you are aware in recent days the smartphone, Blackberry has had a few glitches with their internet. Customers who own the smart phone saw a three day blackout with their internet services, meaning no access to BBM, e-mail, applications and the internet. However, texts and calls were working normally. The services have now been restored as normal. The areas affected were, Europe, Middle East, Brazil, Africa, India and Argentina.
RIM, the Canadian company behind the smartphone blackberry brand, has their European headquarters based in slough which was assumed where the start of the problems occurred. The actual point where the network was down has not been confirmed. It was known that cooperate companies were not hit during the problem and only consumers as they have two separate infrastructures.Â
The blackout earlier this week caused a public outrage many expressing their views through social media network, Twitter. Customers were not happy with the lack of news regarding what was happening and a specific date of when all functions would be resumed as normal. This led to more anger as RIM chief said functions were now normal and a few hours later the problem occurred again.Â
Blackberry VS IPhone
As known in recent months Blackberry has been criticised and have seen their competitors Apple I phone increase sales and market share. It can be common for these faults to occur for a few hours however, three days seems quite a long period. Many consumers have stated they will now turn to the rival IPhone which doesnt look good for Blackberry. However, a commentator on the subject stated that loyal customers will not look for alternatives due to a few glitches.
